I thought I'd post a few photos from our stay in Yorkshire. We stayed in a small town called Boroughbridge, a few miles north of York and stayed in a hotel that used to be a 17th century Coaching Inn - ideal for touring around. We had a really lovely time - with no arguments. The weather was kind to us - kinda cold but no rain and mostly really sunny. It was really noticeable the difference that extra two hundred or so miles further south makes - blossom was out on the trees and the flowers were much further along than in Edinburgh. Came home to lots of cards and gifts from the family and we all went out for a meal the day after we got back. Lovely to look round and see all your nearsest and dearest so happy for you.

WOW. I love those pictures! Wish we had things like that in America...LOL

Where was the second picture taken, out of curiosity? It looks so calm and peaceful...I could just imagine it in the morning.

Fountains Abbey - we visited mid-morning and there were very few other people around so we almost had the place to ourselves. A huge site and the Abbey ruins are very impressive but I preferred Rievaulx (the first picture)which was situated at the foot of a very pretty, wooded valley.
